Profession, owners and entity
Identify the services, licensed owners and proposed structure. Have the relevant adviser or regulator confirm what entity and ownership arrangements are permitted.
Discuss the proposed scopeBuild the firm behind your professional work
Bring your firm’s formation and filing needs to FormLLC. Start with the profession, owners and practice location so we can discuss a suitable service scope, organize the next steps and identify the approvals that need to come before a filing.
Start with your business
An architecture practice, accounting firm and other licensed service businesses may face different ownership, name and entity requirements. A general business filing is not a substitute for the regulator’s approval. Tell FormLLC what you intend to provide and where. Confirm that the requested entity and jurisdiction are within the accepted service scope before ordering, then coordinate the approved filing and record requirements.

Scope and requirements
Do not assume an ordinary LLC is permitted for every licensed practice, that a professional entity is available in every state, or that formation authorizes professional work. New York’s Office of the Professions, for example, provides a separate professional-entity filing process. Check the rules for your profession and jurisdiction. Confirm service availability and pricing expressly; an ordinary LLC package is not automatically a PLLC or professional-corporation quote.
Questions answered
Describe the profession, state, proposed owners and entity so service suitability can be confirmed. Do not order an ordinary formation package until the accepted scope and relevant approvals are clear.
A professional LLC is subject to the relevant state and profession rules. The permitted entity, ownership and approval process need a specific review. Do not assume a general LLC filing satisfies them.
Company formation and permission to provide regulated services are separate matters. Confirm professional, firm and local requirements with the responsible authority before relying on the filing as authorization to practice.
Ownership rules depend on the profession and jurisdiction. Have the proposed ownership reviewed by a qualified adviser or regulator before accepting contributions or authorizing formation.
No such assumption should be made. Confirm the particular entity, jurisdiction, accepted service and fees in writing. Professional approvals and advisory work are not automatically included in an ordinary LLC package.
Additional business registrations and professional permissions may need separate attention. Explain the services, people and locations involved so the appropriate review can be scoped.
